[IMPORTANT POST UPDATE - ORIGINAL MESSAGE DELETED]
Guys, Due to the updated manufacturers firmware failing to load correctly on a number of DSL-2680 routers (See thread below), it is strongly advised NOT to update your firmware - Doing so is likely to render your router unusable! Seemed to be going ok up until the part where routers normally auto reboot. I had the 100% completed message and to check router lights etc. Waited a couple of minutes and power cycled the router. All that happens now is the power led comes on but nowt else. Can`t even log into it anymore either.

Have you tried a factory reset? - Also with D-Links there's usually a "emergency recovery mode" which allows you to upload firmware only (does anyone know the process for the 2680?) - Try the following (from another d-link router):
P.S. I forgot to do this myself, however before anyone else tries it. You might want to TFTP your current firmware off the 2680 (which saves a backup of your current firmware should you need it). The process to backup your firmware is below:- Open up a command prompt and type: telnet 192.168.1.1 (You will be prompted to enter your password [default=admin]) Leaving that window open, open another command prompt window and type: tftp -i 192.168.1.1 get 2680-firmware.bin (after a few minutes, you should get a "Transfer successful:" message and the 2680-firmware.bin file will be located in the folder you are currently in) This should allow you to switch back to the TT f/w if you want to. I've just tried it on my non-talktalk fw and it transfered sucessfully. Perhaps someone could let us know if the backup downloads successfully with the TT fw? The backup process should be safe as it's only transfering the image from the router, not updating it and may help westendboy! |
